The Source Material

Your best material rarely begins as content.

It is usually buried inside a story you tell clients, a mistake that changed how you work, a distinction you keep explaining, or a judgment that took years to earn.

Private Video Authorship begins there. Through private conversation, research and editorial work, we find the ideas that are genuinely yours before deciding what deserves to become a film.

More than a decade of recorded conversations, interviews and documentary work.
The Work

Clarify the thinking first. Then make the films.

01

Surface what is actually yours.

We look for earned beliefs, recurring observations, changed opinions, useful disagreements, proof stories and original mechanisms.

02

Give the thinking a form.

Strong ideas are clarified into language, distinctions, frameworks and narratives that other people can understand and remember.

03

Author it through film.

The strongest material becomes carefully written, directed, filmed and edited work without turning your expertise into generic content.

The 90-Day Partnership

Three publishing cycles. One developing body of thought.

Each cycle goes deeper because I am no longer beginning from zero. The language, stories, beliefs and patterns discovered earlier become source material for everything that follows.

01
Learn

I review your business, existing material, public language and relevant source material so our conversations begin beyond the obvious surface-level questions.

02
Extract

Private recorded conversations are used to uncover stories, beliefs, distinctions, frameworks, mistakes, evidence and unfinished ideas worth developing.

03
Author

The strongest material is shaped editorially and then written, directed, filmed and edited into substantial authored films and their supporting pieces.

04
Build

Across the three cycles, the individual films begin to form a coherent library of your company's thinking rather than a disconnected stream of posts.

Work In Practice

Ideas become useful when people can actually encounter them.

These examples will show how a private source conversation moves from raw thought to a finished piece of authored video.

The Tangible Record

The films are not the only thing you keep.

Across the engagement, I build a private Editorial Dossier that records the intellectual material uncovered along the way.

  • 01
    Point-of-View Map

The recurring beliefs, tensions and distinctions that make your perspective recognizably yours.

  • 02
    Framework + IP Inventory

Named methods, mechanisms, useful language and intellectual structures discovered or clarified during our conversations.

  • 03
    Story + Proof Inventory

The examples, experiences, mistakes, client stories and evidence that support the ideas.

  • 04
    Film Library

A reference index showing what has been authored, the idea each film carries, and how the pieces relate to one another.

  • 05
    Publishing Sequence

A practical recommendation for the order in which the work can be introduced, connected and revisited.

What The Engagement Includes

The output follows the thinking.

Private Video Authorship is scoped around three publishing cycles rather than a monthly content quota.

One conversation may reveal a single idea that deserves space. Another may contain several distinct films. The editorial judgment is part of what you are hiring.

  • 01
    Background research and editorial preparation
  • 02
Private source conversations and recorded interviews
  • 03
    Point-of-view, story and framework development

Fit

Built for people with something worth extracting.

A strong fit

  • Founders, consultants, executives and experts with years of accumulated judgment.
  • Businesses where trust and understanding matter before a customer can buy.
  • People who think well in conversation but do not want to become full-time content creators.
  • Companies developing a distinctive point of view, methodology, category or body of intellectual property.
  • People willing to think in public without pretending every answer was obvious from the beginning.

A different solution may fit better

  • You mainly need a large volume of short social clips every week.
  • The message is already fully written and you only need a production crew to execute it.
  • Speed and quantity matter more than editorial development.
  • You want guaranteed impressions, leads or revenue from the films.
  • You need a traditional social-media management agency.

A Note From Aaron

I am interested in the thought before the performance.

I have spent more than a decade putting cameras in front of people and listening to them speak. The most useful moments rarely arrive when someone is trying hardest to sound impressive.

They arrive when a person remembers something specific, corrects themselves halfway through an answer, explains why they stopped believing something, or finally finds the words for a judgment they have been using for years.

Private Video Authorship is built around giving those moments enough attention to become useful work.

I remain directly involved throughout the engagement - from the research and conversations through the writing, direction and final films.

Questions

Before we work together.

Why is Private Video Authorship a 90-day partnership?
The work becomes more useful once there is continuity. The first conversations establish language, stories, beliefs and recurring ideas. Later conversations can go deeper because we are building from an existing body of understanding rather than starting again each month.
How many videos do we receive?
The engagement is structured around three publishing cycles rather than a fixed monthly content quota. The amount and form of finished work depends on the strength and complexity of the material we uncover. The goal is a useful body of authored work, not the largest possible file count.
What is the Editorial Dossier?
It is the private reference document developed alongside the films. It records the strongest recurring ideas, language, frameworks, proof stories, intellectual property and finished film library uncovered throughout the engagement so the thinking remains useful beyond any individual publication.
Do I need to prepare scripts or topics?
No. Research and editorial discovery are part of the engagement. Existing notes, talks, articles, presentations and internal material can be useful source material, but you do not need to arrive with finished scripts.
Is this social-media management?
No. Private Video Authorship creates and helps structure the body of authored video itself. Publishing recommendations are included, but day-to-day social account management, community management and paid-media buying are separate disciplines.
Where does filming take place?
Projects can be produced across Canada and internationally. Travel, accommodation, specialist crew, studios and unusually complex production requirements are scoped separately when needed.
Can the work remain private or confidential?
Yes. Confidentiality requirements can be established before the engagement begins. Public portfolio use is never assumed for confidential work.
Can you guarantee leads, views or sales?
No. The engagement covers the research, editorial development, authorship and production of the work. Commercial response also depends on the offer, audience, distribution, reputation, market conditions and sales process.
What happens after the 90 days?
Some engagements should end with a completed body of work. When continued collaboration is useful, an ongoing arrangement can be discussed after the initial 90-day partnership rather than being assumed in advance.
Private Video Authorship

Your expertise already exists. The work is giving it a form worth keeping.

If you have a body of experience worth examining and want to explore what it could become through authored video, we can begin with a conversation.
